Sura 18 - الكهف (Al-Kahf) - The Cave

18.31
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ جَنَّٰتُ عَدْنٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهِمُ ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ يُحَلَّوْنَ فِيهَا مِنْ أَسَاوِرَ مِن ذَهَبٍ وَيَلْبَسُونَ ثِيَابًا خُضْرًا مِّن سُندُسٍ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍ مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ فِيهَا عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ ۚ نِعْمَ ٱلثَّوَابُ وَحَسُنَتْ مُرْتَفَقًا
English: Sahih International
Those will have gardens of perpetual residence; beneath them rivers will flow. They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and will wear green garments of fine silk and brocade, reclining therein on adorned couches. Excellent is the reward, and good is the resting place.
English: Transliteration
Olaika lahum jannatu AAadnin tajree min tahtihimu alanharu yuhallawna feeha min asawira min thahabin wayalbasoona thiyaban khudran min sundusin waistabraqin muttakieena feeha AAala alaraiki niAAma alththawabu wahasunat murtafaqan
French: Hamidullah
Voilà ceux qui auront les jardins du séjour (éternel) sous lesquels coulent les ruisseaux. Ils y seront parés de bracelets d'or et se vêtiront d'habits verts de soie fine et de brocart, accoudés sur des divans (bien ornés). Quelle bonne récompense et quelle belle demeure!
18.32
وَٱضْرِبْ لَهُم مَّثَلًا رَّجُلَيْنِ جَعَلْنَا لِأَحَدِهِمَا جَنَّتَيْنِ مِنْ أَعْنَٰبٍ وَحَفَفْنَٰهُمَا بِنَخْلٍ وَجَعَلْنَا بَيْنَهُمَا زَرْعًا
English: Sahih International
And present to them an example of two men: We granted to one of them two gardens of grapevines, and We bordered them with palm trees and placed between them [fields of] crops.
English: Transliteration
Waidrib lahum mathalan rajulayni jaAAalna liahadihima jannatayni min aAAnabin wahafafnahuma binakhlin wajaAAalna baynahuma zarAAan
French: Hamidullah
Donne-leur l'exemple de deux hommes: à l'un d'eux Nous avons assigné deux jardins de vignes que Nous avons entourés de palmiers et Nous avons mis entre les deux jardins des champs cultivés.
18.33
كِلْتَا ٱلْجَنَّتَيْنِ ءَاتَتْ أُكُلَهَا وَلَمْ تَظْلِم مِّنْهُ شَيْـًٔا ۚ وَفَجَّرْنَا خِلَٰلَهُمَا نَهَرًا
English: Sahih International
Each of the two gardens produced its fruit and did not fall short thereof in anything. And We caused to gush forth within them a river.
English: Transliteration
Kilta aljannatayni atat okulaha walam tathlim minhu shayan wafajjarna khilalahuma naharan
French: Hamidullah
Les deux jardins produisaient leur récolte sans jamais manquer. Et Nous avons fait jaillir entre eux un ruisseau.
18.34
وَكَانَ لَهُۥ ثَمَرٌ فَقَالَ لِصَٰحِبِهِۦ وَهُوَ يُحَاوِرُهُۥٓ أَنَا۠ أَكْثَرُ مِنكَ مَالًا وَأَعَزُّ نَفَرًا
English: Sahih International
And he had fruit, so he said to his companion while he was conversing with him, "I am greater than you in wealth and mightier in [numbers of] men."
English: Transliteration
Wakana lahu thamarun faqala lisahibihi wahuwa yuhawiruhu ana aktharu minka malan waaAAazzu nafaran
French: Hamidullah
Et il avait des fruits et dit alors à son compagnon avec qui il conversait: «Je possède plus de biens que toi, et je suis plus puissant que toi grâce à mon clan».
18.35
وَدَخَلَ جَنَّتَهُۥ وَهُوَ ظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ قَالَ مَآ أَظُنُّ أَن تَبِيدَ هَٰذِهِۦٓ أَبَدًا
English: Sahih International
And he entered his garden while he was unjust to himself. He said, "I do not think that this will perish - ever.
English: Transliteration
Wadakhala jannatahu wahuwa thalimun linafsihi qala ma athunnu an tabeeda hathihi abadan
French: Hamidullah
Il entra dans son jardin coupable envers lui-même [par sa mécréance]; il dit: «Je ne pense pas que ceci puisse jamais périr,
18.36
وَمَآ أَظُنُّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ قَآئِمَةً وَلَئِن رُّدِدتُّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّى لَأَجِدَنَّ خَيْرًا مِّنْهَا مُنقَلَبًا
English: Sahih International
And I do not think the Hour will occur. And even if I should be brought back to my Lord, I will surely find better than this as a return."
English: Transliteration
Wama athunnu alssaAAata qaimatan walain rudidtu ila rabbee laajidanna khayran minha munqalaban
French: Hamidullah
et je ne pense pas que l'Heure viendra. Et si on me ramène vers mon Seigneur, je trouverai certes meilleur lieu de retour que ce jardin.
18.37
قَالَ لَهُۥ صَاحِبُهُۥ وَهُوَ يُحَاوِرُهُۥٓ أَكَفَرْتَ بِٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكَ مِن تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ ثُمَّ سَوَّىٰكَ رَجُلًا
English: Sahih International
His companion said to him while he was conversing with him, "Have you disbelieved in He who created you from dust and then from a sperm-drop and then proportioned you [as] a man?
English: Transliteration
Qala lahu sahibuhu wahuwa yuhawiruhu akafarta biallathee khalaqaka min turabin thumma min nutfatin thumma sawwaka rajulan
French: Hamidullah
Son compagnon lui dit, tout en conversant avec lui: «Serais-tu mécréant envers Celui qui t'a créé de terre, puis de sperme et enfin t'a façonné en homme?
18.38
لَّٰكِنَّا۠ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ رَبِّى وَلَآ أُشْرِكُ بِرَبِّىٓ أَحَدًا
English: Sahih International
But as for me, He is Allah, my Lord, and I do not associate with my Lord anyone.
English: Transliteration
Lakinna huwa Allahu rabbee wala oshriku birabbee ahadan
French: Hamidullah
Quant à moi, c'est Allah qui est mon Seigneur; et je n'associe personne à mon Seigneur.
18.39
وَلَوْلَآ إِذْ دَخَلْتَ جَنَّتَكَ قُلْتَ مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِٱللَّهِ ۚ إِن تَرَنِ أَنَا۠ أَقَلَّ مِنكَ مَالًا وَوَلَدًا
English: Sahih International
And why did you, when you entered your garden, not say, 'What Allah willed [has occurred]; there is no power except in Allah '? Although you see me less than you in wealth and children,
English: Transliteration
Walawla ith dakhalta jannataka qulta ma shaa Allahu la quwwata illa biAllahi in tarani ana aqalla minka malan wawaladan
French: Hamidullah
En entrant dans ton jardin, que ne dis-tu: «Telle est la volonté (et la grâce) d'Allah! Il n'y a de puissance que par Allah». Si tu me vois moins pourvu que toi en biens et en enfants,
18.40
فَعَسَىٰ رَبِّىٓ أَن يُؤْتِيَنِ خَيْرًا مِّن جَنَّتِكَ وَيُرْسِلَ عَلَيْهَا حُسْبَانًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَتُصْبِحَ صَعِيدًا زَلَقًا
English: Sahih International
It may be that my Lord will give me [something] better than your garden and will send upon it a calamity from the sky, and it will become a smooth, dusty ground,
English: Transliteration
FaAAasa rabbee an yutiyani khayran min jannatika wayursila AAalayha husbanan mina alssamai fatusbiha saAAeedan zalaqan
French: Hamidullah
il se peut que mon Seigneur, bientôt, me donne quelque chose de meilleur que ton jardin, qu'Il envoie sur [ce dernier], du ciel, quelque calamité, et que son sol devienne glissant,
