Sura 27 - النمل (An-Naml) - The Ant

27.31
أَلَّا تَعْلُوا۟ عَلَىَّ وَأْتُونِى مُسْلِمِينَ
English: Sahih International
Be not haughty with me but come to me in submission [as Muslims].' "
English: Transliteration
Alla taAAloo AAalayya watoonee muslimeena
French: Hamidullah
Ne soyez pas hautains avec moi et venez à moi en toute soumission».
27.32
قَالَتْ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمَلَؤُا۟ أَفْتُونِى فِىٓ أَمْرِى مَا كُنتُ قَاطِعَةً أَمْرًا حَتَّىٰ تَشْهَدُونِ
English: Sahih International
She said, "O eminent ones, advise me in my affair. I would not decide a matter until you witness [for] me."
English: Transliteration
Qalat ya ayyuha almalao aftoonee fee amree ma kuntu qatiAAatan amran hatta tashhadoona
French: Hamidullah
Elle dit: «O notables! Conseillez-moi sur cette affaire: je ne déciderai rien sans que vous ne soyez présents (pour me conseiller)».
27.33
قَالُوا۟ نَحْنُ أُو۟لُوا۟ قُوَّةٍ وَأُو۟لُوا۟ بَأْسٍ شَدِيدٍ وَٱلْأَمْرُ إِلَيْكِ فَٱنظُرِى مَاذَا تَأْمُرِينَ
English: Sahih International
They said, "We are men of strength and of great military might, but the command is yours, so see what you will command."
English: Transliteration
Qaloo nahnu oloo quwwatin waoloo basin shadeedin waalamru ilayki faonthuree matha tamureena
French: Hamidullah
Ils dirent: «Nous sommes détenteurs d'une force et d'une puissance redoutable. Le commandement cependant t'appartient. Regarde donc ce que tu veux ordonner».
27.34
قَالَتْ إِنَّ ٱلْمُلُوكَ إِذَا دَخَلُوا۟ قَرْيَةً أَفْسَدُوهَا وَجَعَلُوٓا۟ أَعِزَّةَ أَهْلِهَآ أَذِلَّةً ۖ وَكَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ
English: Sahih International
She said, "Indeed kings - when they enter a city, they ruin it and render the honored of its people humbled. And thus do they do.
English: Transliteration
Qalat inna almulooka itha dakhaloo qaryatan afsadooha wajaAAaloo aAAizzata ahliha athillatan wakathalika yafAAaloona
French: Hamidullah
Elle dit: «En vérité, quand les rois entrent dans une cité ils la corrompent, et font de ses honorables citoyens des humiliés. Et c'est ainsi qu'ils agissent.
27.35
وَإِنِّى مُرْسِلَةٌ إِلَيْهِم بِهَدِيَّةٍ فَنَاظِرَةٌۢ بِمَ يَرْجِعُ ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ
English: Sahih International
But indeed, I will send to them a gift and see with what [reply] the messengers will return."
English: Transliteration
Wainnee mursilatun ilayhim bihadiyyatin fanathiratun bima yarjiAAu almursaloona
French: Hamidullah
Moi, je vais leur envoyer un présent, puis je verrai ce que les envoyés ramèneront».
27.36
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ سُلَيْمَٰنَ قَالَ أَتُمِدُّونَنِ بِمَالٍ فَمَآ ءَاتَىٰنِۦَ ٱللَّهُ خَيْرٌ مِّمَّآ ءَاتَىٰكُم بَلْ أَنتُم بِهَدِيَّتِكُمْ تَفْرَحُونَ
English: Sahih International
So when they came to Solomon, he said, "Do you provide me with wealth? But what Allah has given me is better than what He has given you. Rather, it is you who rejoice in your gift.
English: Transliteration
Falamma jaa sulaymana qala atumiddoonani bimalin fama ataniya Allahu khayrun mimma atakum bal antum bihadiyyatikum tafrahoona
French: Hamidullah
Puis, lorsque [la délégation] arriva auprès de Salomon, celui-ci dit: «Est-ce avec des biens que vous voulez m'aider? alors que ce qu'Allah m'a procuré est meilleur que ce qu'Il vous a procuré. Mais c'est vous plutôt qui vous réjouissez de votre cadeau.
27.37
ٱرْجِعْ إِلَيْهِمْ فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّهُم بِجُنُودٍ لَّا قِبَلَ لَهُم بِهَا وَلَنُخْرِجَنَّهُم مِّنْهَآ أَذِلَّةً وَهُمْ صَٰغِرُونَ
English: Sahih International
Return to them, for we will surely come to them with soldiers that they will be powerless to encounter, and we will surely expel them therefrom in humiliation, and they will be debased."
English: Transliteration
IrjiAA ilayhim falanatiyannahum bijunoodin la qibala lahum biha walanukhrijannahum minha athillatan wahum saghiroona
French: Hamidullah
Retourne vers eux. Nous viendrons avec des armées contre lesquelles ils n'auront aucune résistance, et nous les en expulserons tout humiliés et méprisés.
27.38
قَالَ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمَلَؤُا۟ أَيُّكُمْ يَأْتِينِى بِعَرْشِهَا قَبْلَ أَن يَأْتُونِى مُسْلِمِينَ
English: Sahih International
[Solomon] said, "O assembly [of jinn], which of you will bring me her throne before they come to me in submission?"
English: Transliteration
Qala ya ayyuha almalao ayyukum yateenee biAAarshiha qabla an yatoonee muslimeena
French: Hamidullah
Il dit: «O notables! Qui de vous m'apportera son trône avant qu'ils ne viennent à moi soumis?»
27.39
قَالَ عِفْرِيتٌ مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ أَنَا۠ ءَاتِيكَ بِهِۦ قَبْلَ أَن تَقُومَ مِن مَّقَامِكَ ۖ وَإِنِّى عَلَيْهِ لَقَوِىٌّ أَمِينٌ
English: Sahih International
A powerful one from among the jinn said, "I will bring it to you before you rise from your place, and indeed, I am for this [task] strong and trustworthy."
English: Transliteration
Qala AAifreetun mina aljinni ana ateeka bihi qabla an taqooma min maqamika wainne AAalayhi laqawiyyun ameenun
French: Hamidullah
Un djinn redoutable dit: «Je te l'apporterai avant que tu ne te lèves de ta place: pour cela, je suis fort et digne de confiance».
27.40
قَالَ ٱلَّذِى عِندَهُۥ عِلْمٌ مِّنَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ أَنَا۠ ءَاتِيكَ بِهِۦ قَبْلَ أَن يَرْتَدَّ إِلَيْكَ طَرْفُكَ ۚ فَلَمَّا رَءَاهُ مُسْتَقِرًّا عِندَهُۥ قَالَ هَٰذَا مِن فَضْلِ رَبِّى لِيَبْلُوَنِىٓ ءَأَشْكُرُ أَمْ أَكْفُرُ ۖ وَمَن شَكَرَ فَإِنَّمَا يَشْكُرُ لِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖ وَمَن كَفَرَ فَإِنَّ رَبِّى غَنِىٌّ كَرِيمٌ
English: Sahih International
Said one who had knowledge from the Scripture, "I will bring it to you before your glance returns to you." And when [Solomon] saw it placed before him, he said, "This is from the favor of my Lord to test me whether I will be grateful or ungrateful. And whoever is grateful - his gratitude is only for [the benefit of] himself. And whoever is ungrateful - then indeed, my Lord is Free of need and Generous."
English: Transliteration
Qala allathee AAindahu AAilmun mina alkitabi ana ateeka bihi qabla an yartadda ilayka tarfuka falamma raahu mustaqirran AAindahu qala hatha min fadli rabbee liyabluwanee aashkuru am akfuru waman shakara fainnama yashkuru linafsihi waman kafara fainna rabbee ghaniyyun kareemun
French: Hamidullah
Quelqu'un qui avait une connaissance du Livre dit: «Je te l'apporterai avant que tu n'aies cligné de l'œil». Quand ensuite, Salomon a vu le trône installé auprès de lui, il dit: «Cela est de la grâce de mon Seigneur, pour m'éprouver si je suis reconnaissant ou si je suis ingrat. Quiconque est reconnaissant c'est dans son propre intérêt qu'il le fait, et quiconque est ingrat... alors mon Seigneur Se suffit à Lui-même et Il est Généreux».
