Sura 27 - النمل (An-Naml) - The Ant

27.41
قَالَ نَكِّرُوا۟ لَهَا عَرْشَهَا نَنظُرْ أَتَهْتَدِىٓ أَمْ تَكُونُ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَهْتَدُونَ
English: Sahih International
He said, "Disguise for her her throne; we will see whether she will be guided [to truth] or will be of those who is not guided."
English: Transliteration
Qala nakkiroo laha AAarshaha nanthur atahtadee am takoonu mina allatheena la yahtadoona
French: Hamidullah
Et il dit [encore]: «Rendez-lui son trône méconnaissable, nous verrons alors si elle sera guidée ou si elle est du nombre de ceux qui ne sont pas guidés».
27.42
فَلَمَّا جَآءَتْ قِيلَ أَهَٰكَذَا عَرْشُكِ ۖ قَالَتْ كَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ ۚ وَأُوتِينَا ٱلْعِلْمَ مِن قَبْلِهَا وَكُنَّا مُسْلِمِينَ
English: Sahih International
So when she arrived, it was said [to her], "Is your throne like this?" She said, "[It is] as though it was it." [Solomon said], "And we were given knowledge before her, and we have been Muslims [in submission to Allah].
English: Transliteration
Falamma jaat qeela ahakatha AAarshuki qalat kaannahu huwa waooteena alAAilma min qabliha wakunna muslimeena
French: Hamidullah
Quand elle fut venue on lui dit: «Est-ce que ton trône est ainsi?» Elle dit: «C'est comme s'il l'était». - [Salomon dit]: «Le savoir nous a été donné avant elle; et nous étions déjà soumis».
27.43
وَصَدَّهَا مَا كَانَت تَّعْبُدُ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّهَا كَانَتْ مِن قَوْمٍ كَٰفِرِينَ
English: Sahih International
And that which she was worshipping other than Allah had averted her [from submission to Him]. Indeed, she was from a disbelieving people."
English: Transliteration
Wasaddaha ma kanat taAAbudu min dooni Allahi innaha kanat min qawmin kafireena
French: Hamidullah
Or, ce qu'elle adorait en dehors d'Allah l'empêchait (d'être croyante) car elle faisait partie d'un peuple mécréant.
27.44
قِيلَ لَهَا ٱدْخُلِى ٱلصَّرْحَ ۖ فَلَمَّا رَأَتْهُ حَسِبَتْهُ لُجَّةً وَكَشَفَتْ عَن سَاقَيْهَا ۚ قَالَ إِنَّهُۥ صَرْحٌ مُّمَرَّدٌ مِّن قَوَارِيرَ ۗ قَالَتْ رَبِّ إِنِّى ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِى وَأَسْلَمْتُ مَعَ سُلَيْمَٰنَ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
English: Sahih International
She was told, "Enter the palace." But when she saw it, she thought it was a body of water and uncovered her shins [to wade through]. He said, "Indeed, it is a palace [whose floor is] made smooth with glass." She said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, and I submit with Solomon to Allah, Lord of the worlds."
English: Transliteration
Qeela laha odkhulee alssarha falamma raathu hasibathu lujjatan wakashafat AAan saqayha qala innahu sarhun mumarradun min qawareera qalat rabbi innee thalamtu nafsee waaslamtu maAAa sulaymana lillahi rabbi alAAalameena
French: Hamidullah
On lui dit: «Entre dans le palais». Puis, quand elle le vit, elle le prit pour de l'eau profonde et elle se découvrit les jambes. Alors, [Salomon] lui dit: «Ceci est un palais pavé de cristal». - Elle dit: «Seigneur, je me suis fait du tort à moi-même: Je me soumets avec Salomon à Allah, Seigneur de l'univers».
27.45
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَٰلِحًا أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ فَإِذَا هُمْ فَرِيقَانِ يَخْتَصِمُونَ
English: Sahih International
And We had certainly sent to Thamud their brother Salih, [saying], "Worship Allah," and at once they were two parties conflicting.
English: Transliteration
Walaqad arsalna ila thamooda akhahum salihan ani oAAbudoo Allaha faitha hum fareeqani yakhtasimoona
French: Hamidullah
Nous envoyâmes effectivement vers les Thamûd leur frère Sâlih. [qui leur dit]: «Adorez Allah». Et voilà qu'ils se divisèrent en deux groupes qui se disputèrent.
27.46
قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ لِمَ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ قَبْلَ ٱلْحَسَنَةِ ۖ لَوْلَا تَسْتَغْفِرُونَ ٱللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ
English: Sahih International
He said, "O my people, why are you impatient for evil instead of good? Why do you not seek forgiveness of Allah that you may receive mercy?"
English: Transliteration
Qala ya qawmi lima tastaAAjiloona bialssayyiati qabla alhasanati lawla tastaghfiroona Allaha laAAallakum turhamoona
French: Hamidullah
Il dit: «O mon peuple, pourquoi cherchez-vous à hâter le mal plutôt que le bien? Si seulement vous demandiez pardon à Allah? Peut-être vous serait-il fait miséricorde.
27.47
قَالُوا۟ ٱطَّيَّرْنَا بِكَ وَبِمَن مَّعَكَ ۚ قَالَ طَٰٓئِرُكُمْ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ تُفْتَنُونَ
English: Sahih International
They said, "We consider you a bad omen, you and those with you." He said, "Your omen is with Allah. Rather, you are a people being tested."
English: Transliteration
Qaloo ittayyarna bika wabiman maAAaka qala tairukum AAinda Allahi bal antum qawmun tuftanoona
French: Hamidullah
Ils dirent: «Nous voyons en toi et en ceux qui sont avec toi, des porteurs de malheur». Il dit: «Votre sort dépend d'Allah. Mais vous êtes plutôt des gens qu'on soumet à la tentation.
27.48
وَكَانَ فِى ٱلْمَدِينَةِ تِسْعَةُ رَهْطٍ يُفْسِدُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ
English: Sahih International
And there were in the city nine family heads causing corruption in the land and not amending [its affairs].
English: Transliteration
Wakana fee almadeenati tisAAatu rahtin yufsidoona fee alardi wala yuslihoona
French: Hamidullah
Et il y avait dans la ville un groupe de neuf individus qui semaient le désordre sur terre et ne faisaient rien de bon.
27.49
قَالُوا۟ تَقَاسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ لَنُبَيِّتَنَّهُۥ وَأَهْلَهُۥ ثُمَّ لَنَقُولَنَّ لِوَلِيِّهِۦ مَا شَهِدْنَا مَهْلِكَ أَهْلِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَصَٰدِقُونَ
English: Sahih International
They said, "Take a mutual oath by Allah that we will kill him by night, he and his family. Then we will say to his executor, 'We did not witness the destruction of his family, and indeed, we are truthful.' "
English: Transliteration
Qaloo taqasamoo biAllahi lanubayyitannahu waahlahu thumma lanaqoolanna liwaliyyihi ma shahidna mahlika ahlihi wainna lasadiqoona
French: Hamidullah
Ils dirent: «Jurons par Allah que nous l'attaquerons de nuit, lui et sa famille. Ensuite nous dirons à celui qui est chargé de le venger: «Nous n'avons pas assisté à l'assassinat de sa famille, et nous sommes sincères».
27.50
وَمَكَرُوا۟ مَكْرًا وَمَكَرْنَا مَكْرًا وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ
English: Sahih International
And they planned a plan, and We planned a plan, while they perceived not.
English: Transliteration
Wamakaroo makran wamakarna makran wahum la yashAAuroona
French: Hamidullah
Ils ourdirent une ruse et Nous ourdîmes une ruse sans qu'ils s'en rendent compte.
